DZLU continues to be active with NEW and ONGOING PROJECTS:
812-816 Green Street: Proposed alterations to the existing three-unit building involve adding an elevator to accommodate the extended family’s aging grandmother, and adding a new unit in the garage to replace the middle unit which they hope to combine with the top unit. Per the property owner, the SF Planning Department is saying that the replacement unit has insufficient “exposure”. Had it been allowed, a unit merger would have likely met the property owners’ needs. This is a very complex issue, unique to this particular property. A DZLU member will try to attend the scheduled hearing.
Norwegian Seamen’s Church (2454 Hyde Street): Pre-Application meeting scheduled 04-20-2016. A DZLU representative will try to attend and report.
Julia Morgan Designed Residence: (1023 Vallejo Street): A group of neighbors within the district have engaged a specialist to research and prepare a professional Historic Resource Evaluation of the Julia Morgan designed residence to better evaluate its significance as an individual historic resource, in addition to being a contributor to the historic district. Vallejo Crest is on National Register through the efforts of RHN in the 1980s; as a continuation of those efforts, RHN has agreed to act as fiscal agent for donations collected to fund the additional research.
Inclusionary Housing Bonus Program: A DZLU representative attended the Commission meeting which voted to approve only a couple of hundred “soft sites” to be pursued along major thoroughfares; other sites will be more rigorously looked at by Planning staff. State law requires cities to pursue plans to increase affordable housing. RHN’s letter expressing concern was well received for its thoughtful and balanced comments.
Supervisor Peskin’s Proposed Legislation to ban “formula retail” on Polk Street (from Post to Filbert Streets): The Planning Commission will hear this issue on June 2,, 2016.
1281-1283 Greenwich Driveway/Landscaping: Landscaping is being done now, includes a very large retaining wall which was not in the original drawings reviewed by DZLU. We believe the ownership of the house has recently changed from the prior owner who presented to DZLU.
Macondray Lane Stairs: Good progress is being made. A photo of the ongoing work was shared.
Lombard Street Ambassador program: Supervisor Farrell’s office has put aside $100,000 for a study of the best way to address congestion on and around the crooked part of Lombard St. A DZLU representative will attend an upcoming meeting on the topic.
Utility Undergrounding : SFCUU has been endorsed by Precita Valley Neighbors Association and Middle Polk Neighborhood Association
SF Art Institute Master Plan: Planning Commission hearing 4/21. A DZLU member will attend and report back at a later meeting.

1281 – 1283 Greenwich: what can be done to pressure the developer to finish the landscaping of the park and the driveway they started in 2015 AND REMOVE the construction fence which is such an eyesore?
