Dear Members, Merchants, and Neighbors;
The board of Russian Hill Neighbors has brainstormed for more than one year about putting on a community picnic. What could be better than enjoying a nice lunch in a local park setting with old neighbors and new friends? Finally, we settled on a plan: Sarah Taber and Joyce Kucharvy, among other RHN leads, are organizing a fantastic picnic in the little Teepee Park on Hyde Street between Vallejo and Green on Saturday, June 24 at 12pm. Members: please come join us for a complimentary lunch! Non-members: come to meet others from RHN and become a member! This picnic will be a perfect way to relax after our morning Street Sweep along Polk Street and the surrounding blocks, led by our Neighborhood Improvement Chair, Greg Polchow. (We know many of our sidewalks could use this TLC!) Please read more about these great events to kick off summer further down in this e-blast.
Also, if you have not yet already, please stop by the Russian Hill Bookstore at 2234 Polk Street to wish them well on their move to their new location one block south. They have been renovating the new space and will start moving books over this weekend. Jessica and Ben, longtime store staff who are taking over the ownership of the shop, have poured their lifesavings into this project and they are so grateful for our community’s strong support during this transition. As you can imagine, it is no small task to operate – and relocate – a small business in San Francisco. Visit their fundraising page to learn about donation opportunities to help defray moving expenses and even get your name on a dedicated bookshelf in the new store!
Finally, we have a fun Cheers social event this Friday, June 2 from 6-7:30pm at Rogue Ales Public House, a merchant members of RHN. We will provide complimentary appetizers. Please grab a drink and say hello. This is a great chance to meet new neighbors and enjoy Rogue’s award-winning beer. Hope to see you there and around the neighborhood!
Warm regards,
Emily Harrold
