DZLU MEETING DATE: September 21, 2021 (via Zoom)
1. ONGOING PROJECT UPDATES
None
2. ONGOING POLICY UPDATES
a. HOUSING—SF LEGISLATIVE PROPOSALS
Supervisor Mandelman’s proposals on 4-plexes on RH lots zoned for single-family use and on “monster” homes were discussed. The Planning Commission took up the “monster” home issue on 9/23/21 and rejected the draft proposed by Planning staff. Consensus was that legislation might better apply to specific neighborhoods within District 8 where the majority of concerns arose, such as Noe Valley, Dolores Heights, Glen Park and Corona Heights. The proposed minimum sizes of additional units were questioned, and suggestions were offered to consider form-based rules rather than numerical limits on building size, among many other comments. See prior DZLU reports for more detail. The 4-plex discussion was deferred to 10/28 (to confirm), informed by passage of SB 9&10.
b. HOUSING—STATE LEGISLATIVE PROPOSALS
SB 9&10 have been signed by Governor Newsom. See article link below and see last month’s DZLU report for additional detail including any potential impact on Russian Hill.
