ACTIVE PROJECTS
- 1045-1061 Broadway Tree Removals. The appeal hearing has been rescheduled for January 14, 2015. RHN made its original appeal of the permits to remove four mature trees over eight years ago without a final ruling being made at that time.
- Macondray Lane Stairs: RHN and DPW representatives, as well as the abutting owner, met and discussed a number of possible options for repairing the historic stairs. The DPW representative is continuing to research these options and conferring with Planning on historic preservation issues.
- Short Term Rentals: It was agreed that this topic is of interest to RHN and that the DZLU committee will continue to monitor developments with particular interest in how changes in regulations impact our neighborhood.
- Undergrounding of Utility Wires: The SFCUU (San Francisco Committee to Underground Utilities) had a recent and productive meeting with the Budget and Legislative Analyst Office. The group continues its outreach to other neighborhood organizations. If you are interested in helping to rid our streets of overhead wires, SFCUU is always looking for new committee members and you are invited to contact: www.sfundergrounding.org.
- 1137 Green St.: A recent meeting with the owner was held to discuss options for hiding the galvanized gas lines on the historic wall.
- 1338 Filbert Cottages: More concrete was poured. The project sponsors hope for a completion date within 2015.
- 1281 Greenwich: DZLU continues to monitor this project with particular regard to landscaping of the street and its ongoing maintenance.
- NEW PROJECTS/ISSUES:
- Neighbor Inquiries: RHN President Dan Holligan forwarded to DZLU a letter written by a neighbor of 1740 Jones Street voicing concerns about the length of project construction. DZLU drafted a response letter for Board approval expressing appreciation to the concerned neighbor for contacting RHN, reiterating RHN’s mission, sharing DZLU’s actions and current conclusions and its intention to continue monitoring the construction. It was noted that the sharp increase in construction in the City has impacted not only this project but others throughout the City.
- Roof Deck Policy: Research continues; no recommendations yet. State Historic Building Code: There is interest in reaching out to community experts, and the City’s historic planning component, to better understand the State Historic Building Code and how it could be utilized in our neighborhood.
