As it relates to visibility and police presence I’m pleased to announce that our staffing levels both city wide and at Northern Station are steadily rising. As of last Friday, with the graduation of the newest Academy class, Northern Stations staffing level has risen to one hundred and twenty patrol officers. At this time last year our staffing level was about fifteen percent less with a staffing level around one hundred and five patrol officers. What this means besides a visible presence is an increase in two foot beats, an additional school resource officer, two additional public housing officers, and two additional homeless outreach officers. As we move into 2016 this number will increase further resulting in additional foot beat officers and regular patrol officers in all areas of the district to fight crime and provide a visible deterrent to criminal activity.
