The DZLU Committee met on Tuesday, September 20, 2016
1. ACTIVE PROJECTS DISCUSSED:
a. 1023 Vallejo Street (Julia Morgan house): The consultant hired by the owners submitted their Part I Historic Resource Evaluation (HRE) to the Planning Department, which recognizes that the building is very significant. DZLU awaits a date to reschedule a site visit with the property owners. DZLU will continue to follow the status of the proposed project.
b. 1281-1283 Greenwich Street: The house is under construction, but the driveway and promised landscaping appear to be stalled. There is concern about how long this project is taking.
c. Inclusionary Housing Bonus Program: The program has been divided into smaller programs. Only 100% affordable housing projects have so far been approved.
d. Polk Street Proposed Formula Retail Ban/Whole Foods: Supervisor Peskin has advised that the proposed Whole Foods 365 will be exempt from his proposed Formula Retail Ban on Polk Street legislation and will be allowed to proceed with the Conditional Use approval process. WF365 is preparing the traffic study requested by Planning and remains optimistic of being able to open the much needed neighborhood-serving, full-service grocery in our neighborhood.
