ExteNet (for Verizon) Wireless Facilities on Utility Poles. DPW has sent out notices of approved “Tier III Personal Wireless Service Facility Site Permit(s) for ExteNet Systems, Inc.” (Verizon cell service) for 28 sites on Russian Hill. With the approval of the Executive Committee a letter was sent to DPW protesting the 20 sites for which RHN had received notice. March 25th DZLU members testified at a DPW hearing on four R.H. sites. There is another hearing at 9AM on April 8th at City Hall, Room 400 which will cover 15 sites on Russian Hill. The four wireless companies are actively pushing California Assembly Bill #57 which will be voted on in two weeks. This bill would give the wireless companies “carte blanche” to go in and place facilities on any wooden utility pole WITHOUT notification, which is currently a requirement.
