About Russian Hill Neighbors

Our Mission

Russian Hill Neighbors (RHN) is a voice for residents and merchants to preserve and advance neighborhood character and quality of life through collaboration, volunteerism, and celebration of community.

Who We Are

A nonprofit neighborhood organization established in 1981 to encourage friendly association among Russian Hill neighbors and merchants and to respond to neighborhood concerns.

An all-volunteer organization with all projects accomplished through volunteer efforts of members.

Nearly 500 members who are neighbors and merchants residing east to west between Mason/Columbus and Van Ness and North to south from North Point to Pacific.

• Alert neighbors to security concerns

Preserve Russian Hill History

• Encourage members to participate in gathering and
  preserving historical materials that pertain to Russian Hill
• Protect historic buildings in our neighborhood

Meet Your Neighbors

• Walks and private docent tours
• Annual general meeting
• Periodic get together happy hours
• Dinners at neighborhood restaurants and other social events
• Community projects (park work days, street cleaning,
  utilities undergrounding, etc.)
• Special interest groups (book group)

Promote Quality of Life

• Address traffic and parking issues
• Represent neighbors in proposed Design and Zoning issues

Promote Neighborhood Enhancement

• Periodic broom brigades
• Neighborhood garden projects
• NERT Training (Neighborhood Emergency Response Team)
• Safety
• Tree planting

Preserve Our Neighborhood

• Participate in citywide neighborhood organizations
• Promote preservation of historic buildings
• Collect and preserve oral histories
• Historic walks
• House history projects

• Annual membership drive

• Monthly email eBlast to all who have provided email addresses

We do  not support  or advocate for individual candidates under any circumstances in keeping with our 501(c)(3) tax status as a charitable organization. We may however provide education and access to elective candidates in an equal opportunity manner where all candidates running for a particular office can either share or are offered equal time and opportunity to present their ideas and positions.
