Every chance I have when speaking with the community, I mention the importance of installing a video surveillance system in the home or business. I have some good examples of how cases are solved by the use of these systems. The example I share with you this week is a burglary on the 200 block of Columbus Avenue on June 27th. The suspect entered a business in the middle of the night and stole cash and other items. The owner had a video system recording which captured the suspect and his movements. We put these photos out on our internal email system and that same day a Sergeant from Northern Station and a Sergeant from Richmond Station both identified the same person. As it turns out, the suspect is out of custody currently on a prior burglary offense and is wanted in another burglary case. The video made this case!  Read Central 070915.
