Lombard “Crooked Street” Study now available

Thank you for your interest in the Lombard Crooked Street Study. The project team appreciates the time, attention and feedback that residents and neighborhood groups have given to this effort.

Now for the latest news: You can download a copy of the final report from our website.

The report includes four recommendations to help manage the congestion of pedestrians and vehicles related to the Crooked Street. The recommended strategies are:

  • Improved Enforcement of Existing Regulations
  • Engagement of Tourism Industry as Partners in Visitor Management
  • Engineering and Signage Enhancements
  • Reservations and Pricing System: Admission Fee with a Discount for Advanced Reservations

In March the San Francisco County Transportation Authority Board (comprised of the SF Board of Supervisors) will discuss the report and give direction on which recommendations merit further study.

We will send out an email in advance of that meeting once it has been scheduled.

If you are unable to attend the meeting and want to send comments, please contact Andrew Heidel, Senior Transportation Planner, via email.

A suggestion for solution to Crooked Hill:
Open access to crooked Hill by visitors, two hours in the morning and again in the afternoon. Reservations required, fee charged. Open all hours to
immediate residents. Meter maids/men to ticket visitors who damage or
urinate on property. No larger walking groups than 10 persons per two hours.

Thank you for your response. Be sure to alert the Lombard St association and the City organizations.
