All members of Russian Hill Neighbors are invited to a special RHN Transportation Committee presentation featuring discussion of two major transportation initiatives being followed by RHN:
- CENTRAL SUBWAY EXTENSION PROGRESS Committee Chair Stephen Taber will give an update on the efforts of neighborhood advocates, including RHN, to extend the Central Subway to North Beach and Fisherman’s Wharf, and possibly beyond, to the Presidio. This could potentially result in between one and three new subway stations that would be accessible to Russian Hill residents.
- CONNECT SF. Kansai Uchida, a San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency planner , and Celina Chan, a Planner at the San Francisco Planning Department, will give a presentation on Connect SF, a major planning initiative being undertaken between the SFMTA, SFCTA, and the San Francisco Planning Department, to build an effective, equitable, and sustainable transportation system for San Francisco’s future. Included in this plan will be a subway vision plan, as mandated by legislation originally sponsored by former supervisor (now Senator) Scott Wiener. Included will be a Transit Corridors Study, which will identify the next set of major transit projects for San Francisco. Uchida is both the project officer responsible for the Central Subway extension project and the SFMTA’s Project Manager for the Connect SF project.
Please join us for an interesting and productive discussion about the transportation future of Russian Hill and adjoining neighborhoods.
