Hello Russian Hill Neighbors,
Over the last couple of months our parks committee has spent time walking the neighborhood’s stairways and gardens to figure out the best plan of action for the areas that most need our help. We’ve decided on the 3rd Saturday of each month as our clean up day where we will spend 2-3 hours cleaning up a designated area. Once we get each of these areas cleaned up, our “phase 2” will be the addition of plants (native, we hope!), benches, signage, etc., but we really need to clean up the space first so we know what we have to work with!
Our first clean up day is scheduled for October 17th at 10am and the location we have chosen is the Greenwich Street stairs on the South side of Sterling Park. These stairs get a lot of foot traffic and the area just to the left of the staircase is in need of some major clean up. We have a group of 5 in our committee and would love an additional 10 volunteers to help that day. We are working on securing tools and materials so all you will need to bring is a mask, bottle of water, gloves (if you have them) and yourself! These days are meant to be fun and rewarding knowing we are cleaning up space that not only we frequent each day but that so many tourists travel from near and far to see!
If you are interested in volunteering please send an email to rhparkscomm@gmail.com and we will confirm you for that day. Once the volunteer list has hit 10 we will let anyone after that know they will be first in line for the next clean up day; or if someone who has signed up is unable to attend please let us know and we will find a replacement from the list!

Townsend and I are physically compromised right now?but not so much that we could work as valets (bring the donuts) or something.
