DZLU MEETING DATE: March 23, 2021 (via Zoom)
1. ONGOING PROJECT UPDATES
a. 2424 POLK (at Filbert)—Cannabis Retail
No updates. A neighbor reached out to RHN with concerns regarding proximity to Sherman Elementary School and a preschool. No Conditional Use hearing date has been set yet. We suggest anyone with questions or concerns contact the sponsor and planner directly as well as visit the operator’s facility, Mission Cannabis Club, on Mission Street. To date, there is no recommendation by DZLU and no position by RHN. Please see January report for additional background and contact information.
2. ONGOING POLICY UPDATES
a. HOUSING—SF LEGISLATIVE PROPOSALS
Supervisor Mandelman’s proposals on large home expansions and on increased density in single-family zoning districts:
We discussed recent news articles on proposed legislation to limit “Monster Homes” and to change zoning to allow up to four units on corner lots and within a half-mile of a BART or Muni Metro station. Please see February report for more detail on this proposal.
b. COMMERCIAL POLICIES: SHARED SPACES PROGRAM, PARKLETS
Mayor and Supervisors’ proposal to make installations permanent:
DZLU expressed concerns regarding:
– mixed (residential and business) neighborhoods, and issues such as noise
– parking, service and order pickup areas
– aesthetics, design guidelines, rules, and standards
– public vs. private use and equitable access to “free square footage”
These are along the lines of the concerns that had been relayed to Supervisor Peskin in RHN’s letter of 9-28-20.
DZLU will invite Lee Hepner (Aide to D3 Supervisor Peskin) to our April or May DZLU meeting to discuss items a and b above.
Diane Josephs says
Is there update re Cannibis lounge? Has RHN taken position. It appears that there are few lounges in the US outside SF, so little info on experience. It appears almost all existing lounges are in more industrial/ commercial areas. Very different than the former Jade -snow wong site. This is not a proposed store but rather a pot/hash bar, yet the required review appears less stringent than for a bar. Information is sparce but from my review, hours are 9am-10pm. The hearing is set for Planning Commission– June 3rd planning.
