The Lombard St ambassador program officially kicked off August 29. Modeled after the ambassador program at Fisherman’s Wharf and Union Square, the hope is this friendlier approach to encouraging people to not take photographs while standing in the middle of the street, to not leave valuables parked in their car, to respect the private property of residents, to not litter the popular tourist destination will result in happier tourists and less crime and accidents. The ambassadors will collect various statistics to determine their effectivenss. They will work variable hours all days of the week until November 1 when it will be suspended until starting up again in spring. This effort has been funded by The City.

Would you please let me know how I may become an ambassador.
Mike Moylan says
John,
Thank you for your interest in the ambassador program. While it is funded by SF City dollars, it is managed and run by a private company Block by Block. The person you should contact is Daniela Vasile, dvasile@blockbyblock.com, http://www.blockbyblock.com, 909-538-5071.

My children and I were just on Lombard St this weekend and met the best ambassador! He was kind, patient and friendly. A true gem! We didn’t get his name but he worked today and was at the intersection of Lombard and Leavenworth around 5pm Sunday, August 7th. Perfect ending to our trip!

Thank you so much for the feedback, Laura. I will be sure to pass this along to the ambassador team leader. And glad you had a perfect ending.
