Dear neighbors, merchants and friends,
Although this annual Holiday Greeting is a tradition I have always looked forward to penning, death during the holidays really brings out our fierce ability to allow grief and joy stand side by side. This week’s senseless murders of innocent people celebrating their friendship, community and holiday luncheon makes it even more daunting somehow. May we remember the grief of others as we enjoy our own joy of lives, friendships and family.
We have had and incredibly productive year at RHN focusing on committee building and offering more activities, community involvement through DZLU and Neighborhood Improvement. Thanks to our Neighborhood Improvement Chair Greg Polchow, RHN was awarded the DPW recognition plaque for dedication and support to the community Clean Team volunteer program. Supervisor Mark Farrell came out bright and early to present Greg and RHN the award for our 15 years of outstanding service. Many thanks, Greg, and your merry band of volunteers who Clean Sweep Russian Hill every month! RHN is lucky to have one of the most up to date Web Pages (rhnsf.org) with daily updates on the calendar, revolving events, and eBlasts. Without Mike Moylan’s incredible reliability and IT skills, we might be floating without a rudder. First shout out in many years to Mike. Thank you!
Early next year we shall be rolling out a reorganized Parks Committee to better keep involved in partnering with RecPark on the 8 Russian Hill Parks for whom we act as Fiscal Agents. Francisco Park now has a web page we urge you to view ( www.FranciscoPark.org). Ina Coolbrith Park has had some major upgrades and is a work in progress with more trees and plants along with drainage control to come within the next few months. Thanks to Supervisor Julie Christensen and Phil Ginsburg for partnering with us on finishing the work on beautiful Ina Coolbrith. Thanks to Carol Ann Rogers for being part of the vision on our behalf.
Our membership drive is in full force via Adam Barrett. Please use www.rhnsf.org/membership/ to join or renew so Adam can have a stress free holiday!
On behalf of RHN I would like to thank Supervisor Julie Christensen for the incredible work she has done over the past year for D3. We congratulate Aaron Peskin for his D3 win and look forward to working with him and continue to do great things for Russian Hill and D3 as our Supervisor.
Blessings to you all during the beauty and magic of the Holiday Season.
Warm regards,
Tina Moylan
