Dear Members, Merchants, and Neighbors;
Each summer the Russian Hill Neighbors’ Board convenes for a half-day retreat to look closely at what RHN has accomplished over the past year and set goals for the year ahead. This year we had particularly productive discussions about Membership and Merchant Engagement and came up with some great, new ideas on both fronts. For example, there is a strong community of young professionals in Russian Hill so we will start offering an annual membership for those under 30 years old (just $25/year). Also, to make sure you learn about all of the incredible merchants in our neighborhood, we will be sharing a special offer for RHN members from a different merchant member each month. The first will be a gift with purchase from the delicious Soapbox Cafe at 1800 Hyde Street to mark the Vietnamese cafe’s one-year anniversary in Russian Hill. (The date of this special gift is still to be confirmed, but we will make sure to publicize it.) Congratulations on a successful first year, Soapbox!
Our Board retreat concluded with a visit from our California State Assemblymember David Chiu. We are grateful he took time out of his busy schedule to update us on his wide-ranging legislative activities in Sacramento, as well as discuss the issues most important to RHN members. Hands down though, the best part was meeting David’s young son, Lucas!
Check the RHN Events page to see our activities for August. We have a fun Cheers event set for Monday, August 22 at The Barbary Coast (478 Green Street). Also, please join us at the SFPD Central Station’s National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2 from 5-8pm at the Salesian Playground (680 Filbert Street). We will be handing out glow sticks for kids at the RHN table. Please come by and say hello!
Contact me with any questions or ideas on how RHN can support a Russian Hill activity you enjoy.
I look forward to seeing you around our beautiful neighborhood!
Best,
Emily Harrold
President
