RHN 2016 Annual Meeting

April 22, 2016 by communications Leave a Comment

We were thrilled at the turnout for our Annual Meeting on Wednesday, April 25. Thank you to all of the neighbors and merchants who joined us!

Cole Hardware Polk Street and Le Beau Market donated beverages and Za Pizza provided delicious pizza. We are grateful to our loyal merchants who support RHN at this event each year.

We kicked off the evening by electing the 2016/17 Board of Directors. I am excited — and honored — to serve at RHN’s next President along with an incredibly strong Board. Please visit our Board of Directors web page to see all of the dedicated neighbors who are working to strengthen our community in Russian Hill. We look forward to a productive year ahead.

Scott Wiener     Mark Farrell     Commander Mannix

Supervisor Scott Wiener (D-8) and Supervisor Mark Farrell (D-2) graciously spoke at our meeting and shared the latest on neighborhood and citywide news.

From the SFPD, Commander Ann Mannix, Captain David Lazar from Central Station, and Lieutenant Chris Creed from Northern Station gave us an overview on crime trends in our area. Importantly, Captain Lazar mentioned he is working with Tina Moylan, our past President and current Chair of the Safety Committee, on a Russian Hill Neighbors Safety Forum which will take place one evening in the next few weeks. This will be an opportunity to hear from the SFPD officers who patrol our neighborhood on the crimes they see day-to-day and tips for staying safe.

tables     Alex Clemens
A big thank you to representatives from the Central Subway Project, Francisco Park Conservancy, NEXT Village SF, SF SAFE, San Francisco Coalition to Underground Utilities, and  the Shared Schoolyard Project for being present to share information and resources with our meeting attendees.

Finally, we were lucky to have Alex Clemens from Barbary Coast Consulting deliver our keynote. Alex gave us a incredibly informative overview of the heated June and November elections in San Francisco and at the California State level. He had so many fun political facts and stories to share. Who knew politics could be so entertaining!

Tina Moylan

I also want to give a special congratulations to Tina Moylan who served as President of RHN for five years. We celebrated Tina’s service at Wednesday night’s meeting by presenting her with a poster of messages from leaders in San Francisco commending Tina for her service, as well as a Certificate of Recognition from Assemblymember David Chiu and the California State Assembly. On Tuesday, April 26, Tina will be recognized by Supervisor Aaron Peskin and others at the San Francisco Board of Supervisors meeting. Russian Hill Neighbors has grown and flourished under Tina’s leadership. We are grateful she will continue to serve on our Board. Thank you, Tina!

Please reach out to me with any questions or comments about RHN at president@rhnsf.org, I look forward to serving you and our neighborhood.

Best,
Emily Harrold
RHN President
